We are two months into 2026, which means that the Adult 18+ and 65+ league season will be commencing soon (18+ starts on March 18, while the 65+ season starts on April 8). This means that we have about a month before match play begins. Here are few tips to get ready for the Season:
       -One month before: There is a saying that good players practice until they get it right,

while great players practice until they never get it wrong. If there are any technical fixes

that you’ve been working on, now is the time to emphasize those changes, & do a ton

of drills to reinforce them. This could be anything from a grip change, your serve

motion, the shape of your swing on your groundstrokes, etc.

-Two weeks before: This is a good time to start playing practice matches – whether

that’s sets, fast fours, or tiebreakers. While drills are great for polishing your strokes,

you need match play in order to practice problem solving on court. Make sure to also

practice using the rules for your league (no ads, changing sides, etc.). In addition, take

this time to work on conditioning. Sprints, jogging on the treadmill, or high intensity

interval training are all good options to build your endurance. Make sure to stay

hydrated as well.

-One week before: Check your equipment. Make sure you have a backup racquet;

replace any older strings; & put on new grips. Also ensure that you have the right

shoes and apparel. If the tread on your shoes have worn off, now is the time to replace them. I do know of an excellent Tennis Shop that has everything, & at good prices.

–24 hours before: This is the calm before the storm. In addition to preparing physically, I

like to prepare mentally as well. Try meditating and visualize how you’d like to play on

the court. Lastly, have a well-balanced meal and get a good night’s rest.
